Fundraiser – Bunnings Sausage Sizzle — Bayswater – June 2012

The Bunnings sausage sizzle run by TREW on Saturday 2nd June 2012 was a great success.

Arriving at 8am, the BBQ was fired up and sausages and onions were put on to cook. Within 5 minutes hungry people were queuing up! The sausage sizzle operated from 9am until 4pm non-stop. With the busy periods becoming more frequent than the lulls, we twice had to rush out for more supplies. We served our last sausage at 4pm on the dot.

Overall it was a very long day, but well worth it! The sausage sizzle proved to be very profitable. We have put our name on the list for another day now that we know what we are in for.

Thank you to Amanda for organising this event and rallying the troops comprised of Dean, Leigh, Rebecca and Jessie.
An extra Thank You to Dean and Amanda for cutting up all those onions! The customers loved them.

Fundraiser – Car Boot Sale at Carlton Lodge Indoor Arena

Sunday’s Charity car boot sale turned out to be a great success. Despite the forecast, the rain held off and we had a reasonably mild day.

Stallholders comprised of both businesses and private, all selling a great selection of equine gear.

The public began arriving early and 3 hours of madness ensued. The sausage sizzle and soup was a roaring success and all stallholders were happy with the day.

Many people helped and we would like to thank:-
• Carlton Lodge, for allowing us access to their indoor arena for the day and for their help leading up to and during the car boot.
• Ian Parsons of Parsons Family Building, for manning the BBQ
• Jasmin from Hocking Stuart in Glen Waverley, for manning the gate in the cold and selling raffle tickets.

Also, a huge thank to all the businesses who donated to the raffle and to all the stallholders who, by booking a stall, have supported Triple R Equine Welfare.

We aim to make these car boots an annual event and will post time and location for the next one in our newsletters, on Facebook and here our webpage

Fundraiser – Racing the Great Train for Equine Welfare, May 6, 2012

In an effort to generate donations to support the work of Triple R Equine Welfare, and raise awareness of equine welfare issues, TREW committee member, Tanya Meldrum, competed in the 31st annual Great Train Race on Sunday 6th May 2012.

It was cold and wet at the start of the race against Puffing Billy but this did not deter all the keen racers.

Congratulations Tanya, both on running a very respectable race and for your fundraising endeavour.

Congratulations Tanya!

Eastern Regional Pet Expo – April 2012

On Sunday 1 April 2012 Knox City Council held its Annual Eastern Regional Pet Expo. The Expo was held at Knox Park Reserve on Ferntree Gully Road in Knox-field.

TREW was excited to have a stand at this great Expo. Our Education Unit was on display and we had a range of our merchandise on sale.

The aim of the Expo is to promote businesses, organisations and clubs at one event, incorporating all types of animals as pets, with the theme being “Responsible Pet Ownership”.

Craig “Huggy” Huggins from Gold 104.3 FM hosted the day and made his way around all the stands talking to the representatives.

Hope to see you at next year’s event. You may even win big in our luck dip (every ticket wins a prize!)

Seymour Alternative Farming Expo 2012

Triple R Equine Welfare attended the Seymour Alternative Farming Expo 2012 held from the 17th to 19th of February.

It was a good opportunity for us to be out in the community educating, informing and discussing a varied of topics and issues in relation to equine care and welfare. Our education stand, speakers, displays and information leaflets were all very well received.

TREW was thanked many times for the assistance which has been continually offered throughout the equine loving community and unfortunately, we were informed of a number of concerns which are now being investigated.

A special thank you to our newest supporters Discovery Floats and The Farm Store. In addition we would like to take this opportunity to welcome those new members who have recently joined our organization.

We would also like to thank Laucke Mills for a generous donation of their premium feeds at the completion of the expo.
